3 Simple Steps To Younger Looking Hands

  • Use a mild pH soap when washing your hands. A good example is Dove moisturizing bar.

  • Exfoliate. Use a grainy scrub on backs of hands twice a week to reveal glowing skin. You can either use the same scrub that you use on your face or make your own by making a solution of brown sugar and olive oil. Gently rub on the back of your hands and rinse.

  • Moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturize! After washing your hands, pat dry and while moist, use a moisturizer on the hands, cuticles, and nails. Keeping the thin skin of our hands moisturized is very important. Before going to sleep, apply a rich moisturizer to your hands to keep them moisturized throughout the night. You will love your hands in the morning. A good moisturizer is shea butter which works great for my hands and is super cheap.

Moisturizing Avocado Mask For Dark spots

The abundant unsaturated essential fatty acids and vitamin E in avocados makes it a great cure for lightening dark spots or patches on the skin. This is also known as hyperpigmentation.

You'll need:
  • Ripe Avocado [2 tbsp]
  • Milk  [1 tbsp]
What to do:
  • Mix the avocado and the milk in a plastic bowl. Stir thoroughly.
  • Spread on your face.
  • Leave on for 20 minutes.
  • Rinse off and pat dry.
Apply this mask every other day for the next 2 months to see results. However, since it is also a very moisturizing mask, those with oily skin should apply this mask at most twice a week.

Try it, you'll love it!

My Emergency Pimple Treatment

Use this as a quick fix only and as needed.
When you do get a pimple, you should let it heal on its own. So, for those days when you need a clear face, this treatment should help make your pimple go away in a day or two.

  • Baking soda
  • Honey or Lemon juice
 What to do:
  • After you wash your face at night, mix a bit of baking soda with water, honey or lemon juice to form a paste.
  • Apply to the pimple in a tiny paste, enough to cover the pimple.
  • Cover with a band-aid or plaster.
  • In the morning, it should be a lot less noticeable or even gone.
  • If it is swollen or worse, wash your face and  then use an ice cube to reduce the swelling.
Do the treatment at night until the pimple is gone, only one or two nights.
Keep that area clean with witch hazel or in my case, Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner.

This always works for me. I hope it does for you too!

Bad Breath? Try This!

Bad breath can be very embarrassing, especially when going out in public and meeting someone new or going to a job interview. We all have bad breath sometimes, some of us more than others.

Do you suffer from bad breath? Not to worry. The answer lies in your kitchen or medicine cabinet!

Brush Your Teeth
Brushing your teeth is quite obvious, of course but most of us probably do not brush after every single meal. Most of us are not home to brush after every meal. On the days you are home, however, brushing after every meal should be a good habit to get into.
When you are not home, you can always take a small toothbrush and small tube of toothpaste with you and brush after lunch at work or wherever it is you are during the day. Don't forget to brush your tongue while you're at it because food pieces will stay hidden in the tiny hair-like particles on your tongue and this is one thing that causes bad breath.

The Lemon Juice, Ginger Juice, and Water Gargle
With a glass full of warm water, add one teaspoon each of lemon juice and ginger juice and gargle with it. Gargle with this mixture at least twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.

The Baking Soda Remedy
Baking soda to the rescue again. Baking soda, like vinegar, never ceases to amaze me at the things it can be used for. Just add some baking soda to a glass of water and gargle with it. Two teaspoons of baking soda in a glass of water is the best measurement. You can use the baking soda gargle once a day or twice a day if your breath is really bad.

P.S.  If you don't have baking soda, just buy sodium bicarbonate from your nearest pharmacy.

Good Luck!

Fade Under Eye Circles With Raw Potato

What to do:
1. Slice 1/4 potato to fit over your eyes.
2. Cut 2 slices or, if you prefer, 5 to 10 very thin slices, several for each eye. Either method works.
3. Refrigerate the slices until they are very cold.
3. Lying down with your eyes closed, place the potato slices on your eyelids and leave in place for a minimum of 20 minutes or as long as you want.

Here are a few lifestyle adjustments to also help under eye circles:

1. Sleep: At least 8 hours of sleep can help reduce under eye puffiness
2. Keep your head elevated at night by adding an extra pillow. This can prevent fluids from building up in your face overnight
3. Drink up! Drinking enough water can help you retain less water. The body retains water in the effort to store it for later use. If you drink enough, the body won't store excess water and this will prevent swelling.
4. Avoiding a lot of salt can help in preventing water retention.

Cleanse Your Body With Lemon Water

Lemon water is a rich source of nutrients and provides healthy and glowing skin, clear metabolism. It has various benefits such as excellent skincare remedies, curing throat infections, keeps your teeth and mouth clean, helps with weight loss, controls high blood pressure, cures respiratory disorders, reduces fever and many more.

Having an alkaline body is very important when it comes to good health. If your body is too acidic it can cause many health issues down the track.

What? But lemon juice is acidic, you say. Well, not to worry, because once lemon juice enters your body it becomes alkaline and can protect your cells from damage. Cleansing the body with lemons or limes is another benefit of lemon water as it is 100% safe and gentle to the body.

I drink lemon water first thing in the morning after I wake up and it has worked wonders for me. I also drink it during the day to keep me detoxified.

What to do:
  1. Squeeze the juice of half a lemon into a tea cup or a mug.
  2. Dilute it with warm water
  3. Drink up!

Remove Your Makeup Properly

Removing makeup from one's face can be quite a chore, at least to me. Many people simply lather up a bar of toilet soap, rub it on their face and wash off. This is bad for your skin. This method tends to clog pores which in turn causes the face to suffer breakouts and other skin problems.

Try this simple experiment:
Wash your face using the method mentioned above.
Then using a clean cotton ball, swipe across your face and inspect the cotton.
Chances are that cotton ball won't be clean anymore. See what I mean??

The best way to remove your makeup is by using a makeup remover.  After using that, you can proceed with your normal facial routine. If you do not have a makeup remover, not to worry. There is a natural way to remove your make-up just as well. Trust me! :)

  1. Pour a little olive oil into your palm.
  2. Rub your palms together to warm up the oil
  3. Massage all over your face concentrating on the areas where there is a lot colour such as the eyelids, lips, etc
  4. Wipe off with some cotton wool.
  5. Repeat steps 3 & 4 until you can't see any more makeup residue on the cotton wool.
Proceed with normal facial routine. The olive moisturizes your face while removing your makeup at the same time.

Is oil too much for you?
Try facial wipes. Use them to wipe your face until you can no longer see any residue on the wipe. Then continue with normal facial routine.

Try this and your skin will thank you.
Good Luck!
